Advice and Hand-holding

Moving to France?  Already here? Is it as easy as you thought?

If so - GOOD!

If not - we can HELP (and not just with language lessons).

A little bit of advice, or someone who knows the ropes to stand beside you and  speak up for you can save a lot of money or heartache.

We offer:

  • advice sessions (charged at 30€ an hour)

  • accompanying to meetings, interviews, house-viewing etc (100 € per half day plus any expenses)

 We are NOT...

  • estate agents
  • lawyers
  • tax accountants
  • surveyors
  • doctors

... but we DO know the ropes:

  • we have lived here for a quarter of a century
  • we have bought, sold, renovated and modified houses
  • we have rented out accommodation - holiday lets and long lets
  • we have been privately employed and civil servants
  • we have created our own small businesses
  • we have raised two children and steered them through the education system (public and private) from kindergarten to higher education
  • we have made extensive use of the medical and social security services

and we can share this experience with you.

The most common problems involve:

  •      dealing with the administration (tax, social security, planning permission etc) - we can help you understand and fill in all those forms

  •      buying a house - we can drive you round to compare districts and/or villages and accompany you on house visits

  •      dealing with landlords - we can act as interpreters and moral support

  •      dealing with tenants (if you are a landlord) - as above with landlords!

  •      misunderstandings or disputes with neighbours - as above

  •      following your childrens' progress at school - and making the best decisions for them - we can explain the system, interpret correspondence and if necessary accompany    you to meetings with teachers

  •      finding or creating work - we can give some pointers and explain some of the complexities of the system

  •      just feeling lost in a strange land - we can explain some of the cultural differences and make suggestions to help you integrate

We have been there ourselves!
